Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Yusof Othman said the crime was alleged to have been committed at Kampung Gembut in Tanjung Sedili, Kota Tinggi, on Thursday (Jan 8).

"A 15-year-old boy lodged a police report on Friday (Jan 9)," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 13).

Supt Yusof said the suspect, a local man in his 50s, is also the boy’s neighbour.

The offence was allegedly committed in a hut in front of the suspect's house.

He said police detained the suspect on Friday and obtained an order to remand him until today.

"The case is being investigated under Section 377C of the Penal Code," he said, adding that the investigation paper will be forwarded to the prosecution for further action.

Section 377C, which covers carnal intercourse against the order of nature, carries a jail term of up to 20 years and caning upon conviction.

Supt Yusof said the suspect, who does not have a criminal record, tested negative for drugs.

"We urge the public to refrain from making any speculation which could interfere with the investigation," he added.
