PETALING JAYA: A 19-year-old woman was allegedly robbed and forced to perform an indecent act by a man at Taman Ayer Panas, Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, on Tuesday (Jan 6) at about 11.30pm.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Lazim Ismail said police received a report from the woman, at about 6.23pm on Wednesday (Jan 7).
He said the incident occurred when the victim was approached by an unknown man who accused her and her 27-year-old boyfriend of committing an indecent act inside a car.
“The suspect then took the identity cards of the victim and her boyfriend before forcing the victim to perform an indecent act with him,” he said in a statement Saturday (Jan 10).
ACP Mohamad Lazim said the suspect later fled the scene with the mobile phones belonging to the victim and her boyfriend.
Following the report, police arrested a 24-year-old man on Thursday (Jan 8) in Kota Damansara to assist in investigations, he said.
“The suspect has been remanded for seven days from Jan 14.
"The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery and Section 377C of the Penal Code for committing an indecent act by force," he said.
He urged members of the public with information related to the case to come forward to assist in the investigation.
