JASIN: A 22-year-old woman and two men were detained by police here for the alleged possession of a firearm and ammunition seized during a raid.
Jasin OCPD Supt Lee Robert said a 54-year-old man, his niece and a 45-year-old man were arrested following a raid at a house along Jalan Bemban at about 5.30pm on Sunday.
“An inspection by the raiding team led to the discovery of a shotgun along with several spent bullet casings placed on a table in garage located below the house,” he said in a statement yesterday.
The police raid, he added, was based on a public tip-off related to the alleged offence.
Besides a brown-coloured shotgun, police also seized a shotgun handguard, a cartridge belt, a shotgun gun cover and 13 various coloured 12-bore shotgun casings during the raid.
“Further checks revealed that the two male suspects have three and seven previous records respectively involving criminal and drug-related offences, while the female suspect has no prior criminal record,” he said.
Lee added that all three suspects were remanded for three days to assist investigations.
