Pedestrian killed after being hit by SUV in Georgetown, driver arrested for suspected drunk driving

GEORGE TOWN: A 67-year-old pedestrian was killed after being hit by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) at Jalan Lembah Permai here.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the incident occurred at about 11.30pm on Sunday (Jan 4) when the woman was crossing the road.

"Initial investigation found that the SUV, driven by a 51-year-old foreign national who was coming from Mount Erskine Road and heading towards Tanjung Bunga Road, struck the pedestrian who was crossing the road from left to right," he said in a statement on Monday (Jan 5).
