Terengganu fully recovered from floods, all 571 flood victims to return home

KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu has fully recovered from floods as all 571 individuals from 155 families in Kemaman were allowed to return to their homes.

State Civil Defence Force (APM) Director Civil Defence Colonel (PA) Mohd Zul Khairi Shamsuddin said all of them were previously housed at a temporary evacuation centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bukit Mentok.

He said all victims were allowed to return to their residences at 6:00pm on Sunday (Dec 21) when weather conditions improved.

However, Mohd Zul Khairi advised the public to remain vigilant and be prepared to evacuate to a relief centre if their residential areas start to be inundated by water.

"During this Northeast Monsoon season, residents in flood-prone areas must stay alert to the warnings issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) and be ready to move to a safer location," he said. - Bernama
