Newborn found abandoned in Likas Bay park


KOTA KINABALU: A newborn baby has been found wrapped in a towel and covered with black plastic in the Likas Bay public park area here.

Joggers in the area discovered the baby boy on Sunday (Dec 21) morning.

Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Kasim Muda said they received a call at around 6.30am and dispatched a team to the park.

"We believe the baby was just born a few hours ago," he said in a statement on Sunday.

He said the infant was unharmed and taken to the hospital for a check-up.

ACP Kasim said there were no eyewitness and called on the public to for information or contact investigating officer Sjn Mejar Rosmah Pg Hasim at 011-3167 7612.

He added they had informed the Welfare Department for further action.
