Indian Blueprint must be implemented, says Zahid

BUTTERWORTH: Barisan Nasional will push for full implementation of the Indian Blueprint programme, a government plan launched in 2017, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said the Blueprint was launched in 2017 to address socio-economic challenges faced by the Indian community.

"As Barisan chairman, we insist that 100% of the Indian Blueprint programme must be implemented by the unity government.

"It was previously under Barisan and now the Unity government, I am confident as it is now under the care of Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.

"I will ensure he reaches out to the Indian community nationwide, regardless of political affiliation.

"If the allocation is insufficient, I will quietly advise the Prime Minister to increase it," said Ahmad Zahid at the Malaysia Makkal Sakti Party annual general assembly in The Light Hotel on Sunday (Dec 21).

He also stressed on the importance of education and skills training across all communities.

"We must be colour blind when addressing poverty, especially urban poverty.

"There are dropouts are not only from the Malay community but also Indian, Chinese and Iban.

"That is why we have Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes nationwide without racial bias, to tackle unemployment and education gaps.

"Through the Indian Blueprint, we even send Indian TVET students to China for training, fully funded by the government," he said.

Meanwhile, Makkal Sakti president Datuk Seri RS Thanenthiran expressed pride in its 17-year journey, highlighting the dedication and loyalty of its leaders and supporters.

"This success would not have been possible without the sacrifices, loyalty and support of our leaders, members and steadfast supporters," he said.

Thanenthiran also reaffirmed the party's commitment to Barisan and principled politics.

"We remain steadfast with Barisan Nasional. Politics is not about feelings or emotions, it is based on principle.

"From the start, Makkal Sakti has held to the divine principle of carrying the voice of the people," he said.
