'I want to rest, perform Umrah soon', says Na'im

PUTRAJAYA: Former Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, greeted his officers and the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) for the last time on Wednesday (Dec 17).

He arrived at 8.20am at Kompleks Islam, Putrajaya, and was welcomed by agency officers and staff, including the Political Secretary, Dr Muhamad Razak Idris, reported Sinar Harian.

When asked by reporters, Mohd Nai'm stated he had no plans and wanted to rest first.

"God willing, I will leave to perform Umrah in the near future," he said.

After spending about two hours, he then left for home.

Mohd Na'im, 58, who is also the former Chief Syariah Judge, was appointed to the position on Dec 2, 2022 after being sworn in as a Senator.

He and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustaf,a were among the names dropped in the Unity Government's second Cabinet reshuffle.

Also dropped was Deputy Minister of Unity, K Saraswathy
