Bung Moktar laid to rest in Kg Likas cemetery after Friday prayers


KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin has been laid to rest at the Kg Likas Muslim Cemetery near here at around 2pm on Friday (Dec 5).

His body was brought to the cemetery after burial rites were completed at the Kota Kinabalu city mosque where Head of State Tun Musa Aman, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Umno leaders and other state figures attended.

Bung, who passed away due to lung infection and kidney failure at 1.46am, was brought back to his home in Luyang near here, where family and friends were allowed to pay their last respects between 8am and 9.30am.

His body was later taken to the city mosque and the Kg Likas Muslim Cemetery after Friday prayers.

Hundreds of people from near and far turned up at the cemetery to offer prayers and condolences to the bereaved family.

Bung, the Kinabatangan MP and Lamag assemblyman leaves behind two wives - Datin Seri Nor Asidah Alimuddin and Datin Seri Zizie Izette Abdul Samad and nine children.

He will always be known as a fierce, bold and unconventional leader who spoke his mind but a kind-hearted person among his family and friends.
