‘Parliament will not be the same without him’ says Abdul Karim of Bung Moktar’s passing

KUCHING: The nation has lost a colourful character with the passing of Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, says a Sarawak leader.

State Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said Bung Moktar was passionate about politics and championed Sabah's interests tirelessly throughout his long career as a politician.

"Parliament will not be the same without him.

"Some people might not like his style, but he was very colourful when debating in Parliament and leading Sabah politics," he told reporters on Friday (Dec 5).

Abdul Karim also said he was shocked to hear of Bung Moktar's passing so soon after he retained the Lamag seat in the just-concluded Sabah state election.

He conveyed his condolences to Bung Moktar's family as well as Sabah Barisan and Umno.

"We will definitely miss him," he added.

Bung Moktar, 66, passed away at 1.46am on Friday.

He had been admitted to hospital for a severe lung infection.
