Sabah STAR ready to support Hajiji's govt, Jeffrey Kitingan

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah STAR is ready to support Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and contribute constructively to the government’s agenda for development, stability and progress, says president Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.

Jeffrey, when congratulating Hajiji on his reappointment as Chief Minister, said that Sabah deserved a government that worked together, especially on matters of constitutional rights and long-term sovereignty.

He said the people of Sabah have spoken with this state election result, and Sabah STAR accepted their decision with full respect.

“The democratic process has once again reflected the voice and aspirations of Sabahans,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Nov 30).

Jeffrey said the party expressed its deepest gratitude to all supporters across the state, especially to the voters of Tambunan and Bingkor for once again placing their trust in its leadership and candidates.

“Your confidence strengthens our resolve to serve Sabah with integrity and purpose,” he said in stressing that they were committed to supporting the new state government.

In this regard, he reiterated the party’s long-standing commitment to the fulfilment of Sabah’s 40% revenue entitlement.

Jeffrey said since this negotiation could only be carried out government-to-government, Sabah needed to have strong, principled voices involved in the process.

“This struggle has always been at the core of Sabah STAR, and we stand ready to support any sincere and courageous effort to secure what rightfully belongs to Sabah,” he said.

Sabah STAR won two out of the 46 state seats contested in the Nov 29 state polls.
