PETALING JAYA: PAS has confirmed it has won the Karambunai seat in the 17th Sabah state election.

Its deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said that Datuk Dr Aliakbar Gulasan (pic) has won with a majority of 371 votes in the 11-cornered fight for the seat.

"We would like to thank the voters who had voted for Aliakbar, who is Perikatan Nasional candidate. We would also like to record our deepest appreciation to the election machinery who had played a big role in our victory," he said.

In 2020, Aliakbar became the first PAS member to be in the Sabah Assembly when he was brought in as a nominated assemblyman.
