Sabah polls: Sarawak cops to deploy 1,031 personnel

KUCHING: About 1,031 Sarawak police personnel will be deployed in Sabah from Friday (Nov 28) to help ensure the smooth running of the 17th Sabah state election scheduled for the following day.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah (pic) said about 200 personnel are already in Sabah, while the rest will leave via commercial flights on Thursday (Nov 27).

He said this deployment is vital to ensuring that the election process runs in a smooth, orderly and safe manner.

"We are committed to ensuring all preparations are in order and the team is also ready to help in terms of security control and public movement,” he said after the Police Commissioner's monthly gathering here on Wednesday (Nov 26).
