Number of flood victims in Perak rises to 5,292 as relief centres fill up


IPOH: The number of flood victims in Perak continues to rise, reaching 5,292 as of 6pm on Wednesday (Nov 26), up from 4,992 just two hours earlier.

A state disaster management committee spokesman said the number of affected families has also increased, with 1,640 families now staying at temporary relief centres across eight districts, compared to 1,550 families at 4pm.

Currently, 44 relief centres are operating in Larut, Matang and Selama, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk, Kuala Kangsar, Batang Padang, Hilir Perak, and Muallim.

Manjung has the highest number of evacuees, with 1,941 individuals from 574 families at 16 relief centres.

Perak Tengah follows with 1,371 individuals from 393 families across 10 centres.

In Hilir Perak, 859 individuals from 280 families have been placed in seven centres, while Bagan Datuk has 780 individuals from 272 families in four centres.

Larut, Matang and Selama have 176 individuals from 57 families at three centres. In Muallim, 98 individuals from 26 families are at two centres, and 64 individuals from 37 families are at a centre in Kuala Kangsar.

There were no changes in Batang Padang, with three individuals from one family at one centre.
