Floods: KTMB suspends MySawasdee services to Hatyai

KUALA LUMPUR: The "MySawasdee” tourist train service to and from Hatyai has been cancelled due to the current flood situation.

In a statement on Tuesday (Nov 25) Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) said that train service No. 1004 from KL Sentral to Hatyai on Nov 28 and No. 1005 from Hatyai to KL Sentral on Dec 1 have been cancelled.

"This follows the closure of the railway tracks in several areas in the Padang Besar to Hatyai sector, including the Hatyai station, owing to the ongoing flood situation in the region.

"This decision was made after a safety and operational assessment and confirmation from the Thai authorities, taking into account the safety of passengers as a priority," it said.

A total of 840 tickets had been offered for both trips.

"Of that number, 652 passengers have yet to cancel their tickets.

"For online ticket purchases, passengers can cancel via the KITS application by selecting MyTicket, then Upcoming Ticket, and then the Refund menu option.

"They will receive a full fare refund immediately, which will go into their KTM Wallet for future purchases," it read.

It said the 188 passengers for both routes who made early cancellations are eligible to receive the fare refund as well.

"The upcoming MySawasdee trip schedule and travel dates will be announced from time to time, subject to developments and the current situation.

"We apologise for the inconvenience to passengers and appreciate the patience and cooperation of all parties throughout this situation," it added.
