KOTA KINABALU: Pakatan Harapan has unveiled eight main commitments under its manifesto for a more sustainable, prosperous and developed state if it remains part of the Sabah government after the state polls.
State PKR chief Datuk Mustapha Sakmud said these commitments comprise the most vital one – fulfilling the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), which includes Sabah’s 40% revenue entitlement.
He said the coalition wants to address water, electricity and infrastructure issues, as well as provide free higher education to eligible students with the 40% payment.
“With this fund, we also hope to provide welfare aid, build affordable housing, set up a new industrial park, boost the tourism sector and introduce the Kota Kinabalu Light Rail system in the city,” he said when unveiling the manifesto here yesterday.
He said they aim to provide job opportunities with salaries that match academic qualifications, as well as cost of living allowances for students, under their young people aspiration objective.
Mustapha said the coalition also seeks to boost economic development and empower women.
“We are thankful and glad that after over five decades, we have a prime minister who is willing to fulfil the MA63 through negotiations,” said Mustapha.
He added that as the campaign trail enters its second week, support and response for Pakatan candidates are growing.
