Sabah polls: BN's Tanjong Kapor candidate known for dedication to the community, says Dr Wee

KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional’s candidate for Tanjong Kapor, Kevin Lee Sip Kim, is widely recognised for his dedication to the community, and had even declined a Datukship, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

Just when campaigning gears up for the Sabah state election, the MCA president shared a personal story highlighting Lee’s humility and commitment.

“Over the years, Lee has always been passionate about community and education work.

“Whether serving as a Kudat district councillor, secretary of the Kudat Hospital visiting board, or advisor to the Tanjong Kapor Residents’ Association, he has helped countless people in Kudat,” Dr Wee said in a Facebook post Friday (Nov 21).

He added that he had once recommended Lee for a Datukship, but the Tanjong Kapor candidate turned it down, asking instead to be appointed a Justice of the Peace (JP).

“When I asked him why he chose JP, he said Justices of the Peace have functions similar to commissioners for oaths.”

Lee told Dr Wee that JPs can sign and certify legal documents, which allowed him to reach out and help more people handle their simple legal paperwork.

“He chose the path that allows him to help people more directly and more quickly.

“This sincerity, humility, and people-first spirit is exactly what the folks of Kudat, especially the voters of Tanjong Kapor, need in their representative,” he added.

Lee is in an 11-cornered fight in Tanjong Kapor, going up against parties such GRS, Parti Warisan and Sabah STAR, among others.
