PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry has refuted claims that a maternity patient died after not receiving treatment at the newly-opened Hospital Pasir Gudang (HPG) in Johor, and that it lacks oxygen therapy facilities.

"No official report of such an incident has been received," the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday (Nov 18), addressing allegations of the woman's death made in a viral video.

It added that further information is being gathered to investigate the claim.

The ministry also said oxygen therapy has been available since HPG began operating in phases in August.

"Specialist clinics opened first, followed by the Emergency and Trauma Department in September.

"Inpatient services were introduced gradually from October based on readiness and staffing," it added.

The ministry said the Emergency and Trauma Department is currently operating with two Red Zone beds, four Yellow Zone beds, one Green Zone consultation room, and two ambulances for interfacility services.

It said patients requiring further treatment or referral will be managed according to clinical guidelines and priority.

The appointment of cafeteria and kiosk tenants is also ongoing and conducted transparently under procurement procedures, it added.
