SEREMBAN: The police have received fresh instructions from the Attorney General's Chambers in its probe into the death of a Year Four pupil here.
State police chief Dep Comm Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the police would resubmit the investigation papers (IP) once these instructions were completed.
"We received the IP back from the AGC on Nov 3 with the new instructions.
"Once these are completed, we will resubmit the IP to the AGC," he said in a statement.
On Oct 15, DCP Alzafny said police had wrapped up the probe after recording statements from 49 witnesses. The IP was then submitted to the AGC.
The 10-year-old victim was found unconscious in the toilet of the school in Senawang near here on Oct 1.
He was then rushed to a clinic by the school’s discipline teacher, but was pronounced dead by a doctor.
An autopsy conducted on his remains revealed that his death was caused by compression to the neck. No other injuries were found on the body.
Personnel from Bukit Aman’s behavioural science and forensic units were also roped in on the probe.
He had then said that police were looking at all angles, including whether there were criminal elements in the case and other aspects such as the possibility of bullying involved.
The boy’s death, he said, was being probed under the anti-bullying legislation or Section 507C of the Penal Code.
Section 507C criminalises the use of threatening, abusive or insulting words or actions that are likely to cause harassment, distress, fear, or alarm in another person, even if harm was not intended by the perpetrator.
The penalty for this offence is a term of imprisonment of up to one year, a fine, or both.
DCP Alzafny appealed to all parties not to issue any statements since the IP was still in the process of being completed and this may affect the investigation process.
He said the police would reveal the outcome of the probe once it receives instructions from the AGC.
