Don’t forgo human values for the sake of nation’s growth, says Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia must not forgo human values as it progresses forward, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said that the importance of values cannot be downplayed amidst the rise of sectors such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation and energy transition.

“I want Malaysia to hold strongly towards human values. In South Korea, we discussed artificial intelligence and digital transformation. While they are important, I also emphasised the topic of values.

“We must not allow ourselves to progress while losing our sense of humanity,” he said in his speech at the launch of the National Heart Institute (IJN) University College here on Tuesday (Nov 4).

Anwar added that he chose to attend the programme as he believed in the position of IJN University College as a premier institution in the medical and medical sciences field.

“When we talk about the Madani concept, there is the emphasis on wisdom, skills, new technologies and also a sense of humanity.

“That compassion is what we need, especially in the medical field,” he said, stressing the importance how no one must be left behind from having access to the best possible treatments.
