Elderly man missing while fishing found safe


KUALA LUMPUR: An elderly man who was reported missing while fishing in Taman Lestari Putra, Seri Kembangan, Selangor, on Sunday (Nov 2), was found on Monday morning.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director (Operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said Saharun Hashim, of Taman Lestari Putra, was found at 9.55am on Nov 3, after he was believed to have gotten lost in a forest area near where he was fishing.

"The victim was found in good condition and handed over to the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) for further action," he said in a statement on Monday.

A search and rescue (SAR) operation was mounted after the department received a report on the missing man at 8.47pm on Sunday.

Following the report, he said a team of eight personnel in two engines from the Seri Kembangan Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene to conduct a SAR operation, but it was suspended at 10pm due to the darkness, and was resumed at 8am on Monday.

"The search operation last night covered a radius of 1.5km from the location where the victim was feared missing. Also involved in the operation were police personnel, residents and family members of the victim," he said in a statement. – Bernama
