Alert-level continuous rain warning issued for Labuan, Sabah


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued an alert-level continuous rain warning for Labuan and several areas in Sabah, effective from Tuesday (Nov 4) to Wednesday.

In a statement on Monday, MetMalaysia said the affected areas in Sabah include the Interior (Sipitang, Kuala Penyu and Beaufort), West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud) and Kudat.

The department has also issued a thunderstorm warning for Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak until 7pm, Monday.

It said thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in Pasir Mas, Jeli and Tanah Merah in Kelantan; Dungun and Kemaman in Terengganu; as well as Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin in Pahang.

In Negri Sembilan, the warning covers Kuala Pilah, Jempol and Tampin, while in Melaka, Jasin is expected to be affected. In Johor, the areas include Tangkak, Segamat, Muar and Mersing.

In Sarawak, the affected areas are Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit (Song and Kapit), Bintulu and Limbang, as well as the Interior (Sipitang) in Sabah.
