Labourer pleads guilty to raping minor in Lenggeng

SEREMBAN: A 20-year-old labourer pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court here to a charge of raping a student who was two months short of turning 14.

Yarits Dzikri Yunus did not contest the charge after it was read to him before judge Surita Budin.

He was charged with committing the offence in a store near a house in Kg Ulu Beranang in Lenggeng around 3.30pm on Aug 22.

The accused was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni then asked the court for another date for sentencing pending the submission of a social report from the Welfare Department.

Judge Surita then fixed Nov 20 for sentencing.
