Man arrested for circulating obscene photos of 17-year-old ex-girlfriend


KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested a man last Sunday (Oct 26) for allegedly circulating obscene photos of his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend via the WhatsApp application.

Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the 40-year-old suspect was arrested at 9.35pm in Saujana Putra, Kajang, after police received a report from the management of a private college last Thursday (Oct 23).

"Acting on information gathered, police arrested the victim's former boyfriend, who is unemployed and seized a mobile phone to assist with the investigation," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 28).

Naazron said the suspect was remanded for three days until Wednesday (Oct 29) to assist with the investigation.

The case was being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Multimedia Communications Act 1998.

Naazron asked the public with information regarding the incident to contact any nearby police station or the assistant investigating officer, Sergeant Siti Aidah Yem at 010-2176278 to assist with the investigation. – Bernama
