Slain schoolgirl’s family grateful for public support and love

PETALING JAYA: The mother of the late Yap Shing Xuen has expressed her gratitude for the overflowing love her family has received ­following the ­brutal murder of her daughter.

Wong Lee Ping said she was deeply moved by the mass ­outpouring of public support, which she describes as a beacon of light in the family’s darkest hour.

“In this time of unimaginable sorrow, our hearts are filled with both grief and gratitude.

“But we are truly touched and humbled by the outpouring of love, support and presence from all of you during this painful ­period.

“Your care has been a light in our darkest days,” she said in a Facebook post on Monday, Bernama reported.

Wong also shared an artificial intelligence-generated video of Shing Xuen smiling and waving goodbye after her funeral.

She also expressed special ­appreciation to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, as well as MPs for their support.

In addition, she thanked ­members of various ­communities who had come forward to comfort and stand by her family in honour of the memory of her late 16-year-old ­daughter.

“Every gesture, big or small, will forever be remembered by our family.

“Your support gave us strength, your presence brought comfort and your prayers helped us carry on.

“So from the depths of our hearts, thank you,” Wong ­concluded her post.

Form Three student Shing Xuen was fatally stabbed at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara 4 here on Oct 14.
