Stop speculation over Juru double murder, urge cops


BUKIT MERTAJAM: The public is urged to stop spreading speculation which could interfere with police investigations into the murder of a mother and her daughter on Saturday (Oct 18).

Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said police were currently conducting detailed investigations into the case, including identifying the real perpetrators and the motive for the murder, and needed more time to conduct a thorough investigation.

"I also want to advise the public to stop speculating or spreading false information that could affect the investigation," he said when contacted here on Tuesday (Oct 21).

In the incident, Sariya Che Hin, 51, and her adopted daughter Nur Afrina Alisha Abdul Rahim, 11, were found dead in a house in Kampung Sekolah Juru here.

Sariya’s body was found in the kitchen on the ground floor of the house, with her head almost severed, while her daughter was found face down and covered in blood upstairs.

So far, three individuals, namely the victim's 57-year-old husband and two other men, a local and a Bangladeshi national, have been remanded for investigations.

He explained that the three individuals were arrested to assist in investigations from various angles.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. – Bernama
