Lecturer drowns in hotel pool


CHUKAI: A lecturer from a Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) branch in Pahang was found drowned in a hotel swimming pool here Saturday (Oct 11).

Kemaman deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Wan Muhamad Wan Ja’afar said police received a call from a member of the public about the incident at around 7.10pm.

Initial investigations found that the victim, Nur Hazwani Abd Halim, 33, from the university’s Academy of Language Studies, had checked into the hotel at about 4pm on Saturday.

"She was said to have gone swimming with her husband at about 4.30pm and was discovered drowned about an hour later,” he said.

Supt Wan Muhamad added that the remains of the victim, who is the daughter of former Permaisuri assemblyman Datuk Abd Halim Jusoh, were taken to Kemaman Hospital for a post-mortem.- Bernama
