KUALA LUMPUR: The property sector has entered the final quarter of 2025 riding a wave of renewed optimism, a mood decisively shaped by the strong performance of the first half of the year and the just-announced Budget 2026.

This confluence of positive factors sets the stage for the StarProperty Awards Showcase 2025, which is poised to be the premier convergence point for homebuyers, investors and industry leaders seeking to capitalise on this upswing.

The showcase from Friday to today (Oct 10 to 12) at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre here will be the final instalment of this year’s StarProperty Awards cycle.

Speaking on the significance of the event, Star Media Group (SMG) group chief executive officer Chan Seng Fatt emphasised its broader role: “This showcase marks the final instalment of the StarProperty Awards 2025, where we celebrate excellence not only in design and innovation but also in the professionalism and trust that sustain this industry.

“This celebration of excellence comes at a time when the market’s fundamentals have proven remarkably resilient,” said Chan, who noted that the market’s total transaction value has remained robust despite intermittent challenges.

“In the first half of 2025, the total transaction value rose to RM107.68bil despite a slight dip in transaction volume.

“The industrial and hospitality sectors recorded strong performance, fuelled by major infrastructure developments and robust investment flows.”

This growth confirms that capital flows remain strong, particularly in segments that benefited from infrastructure spending and economic recovery.

While the industrial and hospitality segments led the value metrics, the residential market – the heartbeat of the property sector – is demonstrating clear signs of a strong recovery.

Addressing the common industry concerns, Chan said the residential market’s trajectory is firmly positive.

“The residential segment showed mixed results, with healthy demand for landed properties offset by concerns over high-rise oversupply, yet even here, recovery is evident, with unsold stock gradually easing and buyer confidence improving.”

The gradual easing of unsold inventory is a critical indicator that market absorption is strengthening, creating a more stable environment for developers and mitigating financial risk for investors.

The timing of the StarProperty Showcase is particularly significant, following the announcement of Budget 2026.

“We anticipate both the volume and value of property transactions to rise in the coming months, boosting confidence among developers and home buyers alike,” said Chan, who added that this market confidence provides the ultimate assurance for attendees, signalling that the current moment offers a prime opportunity to lock in purchases before any anticipated price appreciation is driven by rising demand.

The StarProperty Awards Showcase 2025 was officiated by National Housing Department director-general Datuk Jayaselan K. Navaratnam, who represented Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.

Attendees will find approximately 30 diverse and high-potential projects from Malaysia’s most respected developers at one venue, with exhibitors including giants such as IJM Land, IOI Properties Group Bhd, and Mah Sing Group Bhd.

Other market leaders include KL Wellness City Sdn Bhd, Land and General Bhd, Platinum Victory, Radium Development Bhd, and WCT Land Sdn Bhd.

This breadth of participation ensures a comprehensive selection spanning various market segments, from large-scale integrated townships to niche, specialised urban developments, and medical-centric projects, allowing buyers to make comparisons across different price points and locations.

Meanwhile, the highly anticipated Buy & Win contest offers purchasers who book a unit the chance to win a share of over RM20,000 in prizes.

Buyers who attend with their families in tow will enjoy family-friendly attractions such as a colouring contest for children, cash vouchers, and scheduled clown appearances while savouring complimentary treats like popcorn and balloons.
