KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, was presented with Budget 2026 proposals by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
According to a post on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page, the Budget document was presented during an audience at Istana Bukit Tunku yesterday.
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, is scheduled to table the Budget in Parliament today.
At a briefing with media editors, the Prime Minister said that the fourth Budget by his administration focuses on safeguarding the people’s welfare, strengthening the economy and reinforcing the nation’s sustainable and inclusive foundations.
Based on the Order of Business on Parliament’s website, Anwar is scheduled to table the Supply (Budget) Bill 2026 in the Dewan Rakyat at 4pm, reported Bernama.
The Bill will be debated by lawmakers for eight days at the policy stage, followed by ministerial winding-up sessions from Oct 29 to Nov 4.
Debate at the committee stage will take place from Nov 5 to 27 before the Bill is put to vote.
Meanwhile, Anwar appealed to all Malaysians to pray for a smooth process during the tabling of the Budget 2026.
“Pray that everything goes well, God willing,” he said when met by the media after reviewing the final preparations for the Budget at the Finance Ministry in Putrajaya.
Anwar arrived at about 3pm and was greeted by Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying and Treasury secretary-general Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican.
Also present were Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and director-general of Public Service Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz.
The Prime Minister spent about 30 minutes reviewing the Budget 2026 operations room in the Main Hall and spoke with ministry personnel involved in preparing the document.
A total of 320 officers and staff from various divisions, including the Tax Division, Fiscal and Economic Division, International Division, National Budget Office Division, and the Budget Team, were involved in the preparation of the Budget document.
Anwar also posed for a photograph with the top management of each group that played a role in the Budget 2026 preparation process in the main lobby.
The Prime Minister was previously reported to have said that the Madani Budget 2026 would reflect the government’s priorities and country’s direction next year, focusing on efforts to champion the people, strengthen the economy and reinforce the nation’s sustainable and inclusive foundation.
