Government to disburse RM100 Sara assistance ahead of Ramadan, Chinese New Year in 2026


PETALING JAYA: The government will once again distribute RM100 in Sara assistance to 22 million Malaysians aged 18 and above, with disbursements scheduled for mid-February next year, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said the initiative was to help with preparations for Ramadan and the Chinese New Year celebrations.

"I am pleased to announce that the Government will once again distribute RM100 Sara to 22 million Malaysians aged 18 and above," he said while tabling the Supply Bill 2026 in the Dewan Rakyat, on Friday (Oct 10).

According to Anwar, the total Sumbangan Tunair Rahman and Sara allocation for 2026 is RM15bil. T

"This increase is a result of savings generated from targeted subsidies such as diesel and RON95," he added.

For the year 2026, all 9 million STR recipients would also receive Sara of up to RM100 per month, or RM1,200 per year, said Anwar.

Meanwhile, 1 million STR recipients under the eKasih program would receive Sara of up to RM200 per month, or RM2,400 per year.
