Motorcyclist dies after hitting stalled lorry on NSE near Yong Peng


BATU PAHAT: A motorcyclist has been killed after crashing into a stationary lorry in the emergency lane of the North-South Expressway (NSE).

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the incident occurred at about 7.45pm on Saturday (Oct 4) at KM97.6 northbound near Yong Peng.

"The incident is believed to have occurred when a 19-year-old motorcyclist travelling north along the emergency lane crashed into a lorry that had stopped there due to a mechanical problem.

"The victim was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining severe head and internal injuries,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Oct 5), adding that the 49-year-old lorry driver escaped unharmed.

"This case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving," he added.
