Price of non-subsidised RON95 petrol set at RM2.60 per litre

KUALA LUMPUR: The retail price of non-subsidised RON95 petrol has been set at RM2.60 per litre, says the Finance Ministry.

In a statement on Monday (Sept 29), the ministry said under the Budi95 programme that comes into effect on Tuesday (Sept 30), each Malaysian with a valid driving licence would be entitled to purchase RON95 petrol at a subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre.

The ministry said Malaysians would enjoy a subsidy of 61sen per litre under Budi95, adding that with an eligibility limit of 300 litres per month, this amounts to RM183 per individual.

It also said the subsidised price for land public transport and goods transport sectors under the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) is set at RM2.05 per litre.

The ministry said that the government would continue to monitor market trends and adjust RON95 prices in line with global oil movements, while supporting price stability adding that for a start, the retail price of RON95 petrol would remain at RM2.60 per litre for October.

Based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) formula, the retail price of RON97 petrol remains at RM3.21 per litre from Sept 30 to Oct 8.

Diesel prices will remain at RM2.93 per litre in Peninsular Malaysia and RM2.15 per litre in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan over the same period.

"For e-hailing drivers, the government will work with e-hailing operators to identify drivers eligible for additional fuel subsidy.

"The Finance Ministry, together with the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad), will finalise the application process for the additional subsidy with e-hailing operators this week.

"The government has also agreed to consider allowing boat operators, especially in Sabah and Sarawak, to qualify for the subsidised price.

"The government is working with relevant agencies and the respective state governments to collect data on boat owners to ensure that they are not left out from enjoying the benefits of the Budi95 subsidised fuel price," read the statement.
