Jalan Burma road repairs set for completion on Sept 25


GEORGE TOWN: The road repairs at Jalan Burma are expected to be completed on Thursday (Sept 25), says Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk A. Rajendran.

Rajendran said the leaking sewage pipe had been replaced and a new manhole cover was was installed on early Wednesday morning (Sept 24).

"Testing and road works will be conducted on Wednesday night," he said.

At 9am on Sunday (Sept 21), a sinkhole emerged on Jalan Burma. In a statement, the city council said that the incident caused damage to the road and the 300mm diameter pipe owned by Indah Water Konsortium.

It was estimated that it would take five days to repair the damage that was cause by a leaking sewage pipe.
