Rapid Bus complying with probe into fatal Jln Kuchai Maju crash, driver suspended

KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd (Rapid Bus) is fully cooperating with the police in the investigation of an incident involving a Rapid KL On-Demand van, which struck down a pedestrian on Jalan Kuchai Maju on Sept 14.

The pedestrian was killed in the collision that occurred along the Taman OUG-Kuchai Lama route. Photos and videos circulating online showed the van failing to brake in time to avoid hitting the pedestrian, who was dragged for about 10 metres.

Rapid Bus stated on Friday (Sept 18) that the driver involved was suspended from duty with immediate effect while the investigation is underway.

"We understand the public’s concerns following the incident and extend our deepest condolences and sympathy to the victim’s family for their loss,” the statement added.

Rapid Bus also assured that the safety of road users and the public is always a priority and said it would review internal operating procedures to ensure a higher level of safety across all services.

The company requested that all parties give space to the ongoing investigation. – Bernama
