Man nabbed for allegedly stealing TM cables worth RM10,000


ALOR GAJAH: Police have arrested a man suspected of being involved in the theft of Telekom Malaysia (TM) cables worth about RM10,000 along Jalan Besar Kemuning, Gadek, here last Sunday (Sept 14).

Alor Gajah District Police acting chief DSP Azrul Mohamed said the incident occurred at about 3.10am when a police patrol team spotted a suspicious-looking car while conducting crime prevention rounds.

"Further observation revealed that three men were stealing cables before a patrol car was called to the location.

"The car carrying the 29-year-old suspect then attempted to flee but was pursued by police for about 5 kilometres to Jalan Keru, Kemuning, before skidding at a bend. The man was apprehended while two other suspects managed to escape," he said in a statement here on Thursday (Sept 18).

Azrul said police also seized a Proton Wira car, two wire cutters, 61 cut cables, 10 cable coils, a wallet and a key.

He added that efforts are underway to track down the two remaining suspects, with assistance from the K9 Unit. - Bernama
