No room for squabbles in PAS as there's a lot of work ahead, Sanusi tells members

ALOR SETAR: Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has urged PAS members to stop bickering and share the good work being done in states governed by the party.

He said internal problems should be settled immediately, as there is a lot of work to be done.

"We need to use our representatives and all of our service centres to share the good work we are doing," he said in his closing speech at the 71st PAS Muktamar here on Tuesday (Sept 16).

"There are people who don’t even know how to utilise all the instruments and facilities we have.

"Use them to deliver our message externally. Don’t share to the outside that we are clashing with each other.

"It might be a small state, and you want to fight?" he said in apparent reference to internal issues in Perlis.

Allies of Mentri Besar Shukri Ramli have reportedly suffered a series of defeats in party elections in the Arau division, including Shukri himself, who failed to unseat the incumbent chief.

Earlier, Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, who joined the party in June 2023, was elected to the PAS central committee for the 2025/2027 term, while Shukri was not.

Sanusi, who is also PAS election director, said there were some forecasts that it would cost RM1mil to defend one parliamentary seat.

"For a single parliamentary seat in the future, if we don't take control of technology and applications that are already in front of us, we'll end up relying on old, conventional methods that are expensive.

"Some people have given us forecasts that one parliamentary seat could cost RM1mil. If we want to win 60 seats, for example, we might need RM60mil," he said.

He added that defending a parliamentary seat would be harder than trying to win one.

"When you're defending, any kudis (scabs) will be highlighted by others.

"It gets tougher.

"When we first won, there were no scabs. People didn’t know we were fighting internally.

"Now there’s so much noise and drama, that’s why I am telling you to stop.

"Don’t take this lightly," he stressed.

PAS governs Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan and Terengganu, collectively known as State Government 4 (SG4).
