Mum and child among eight officers held in 'counter-setting' probe

PETALING JAYA: A mother-and-child pair are among the eight enforcement agency officers arrested by the Negri Sembilan Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission as part of its ongoing Ops Rentas probe.

In a video statement on TikTok on Tuesday (Sept 16), the MACC said around RM80,000 in cash and RM50,000 in jewellery were seized from the two suspects.

It seized a further RM12,000 in cash, including foreign currencies, and RM200,000 in jewellery from the other six suspects.

MACC Intelligence Division senior director Datuk Saiful Ezral Arifin said in the same statement that the suspects had allegedly collaborated with a counter-setting syndicate.

It is believed they took bribes to facilitate the entry of foreign workers without going through procedures, he added.

"We also froze RM1mil in Tabung Haji and Amanah Saham Bumiputra (ASB) accounts," he added.
