Floods: Beaufort-Tenom rail services suspended


KOTA KINABALU: Railway services from Beaufort to Tenom have been suspended because of flooding along stretches of track and at some stations.

According to the Sabah Railway Department, the tracks between Beaufort and Saliwangan Stations are flooded, and passengers are urged to find alternative means of travel.

The other affected stations as of noon Monday (Sept 15) are Kinarut and Membakut, and the tracks between Kawang and Papar stations at KM34.

Resumption of services would be announced once the affected lines have returned to normal and railway track security inspections have been conducted, the department added.

On related matters, emergency units are responding to requests for rescues of victims buried in landslides in Kolombong near here and Papar, floods, as well as roads cut off by landslides and other incidents.
