Electricity supply in east coast of Sabah restored in stages


TAWAU: Electricity supply in several areas on the East Coast of Sabah has been restored in stages since Saturday (Sept 13).

Sabah Electricity, in an official Facebook post, stated that electricity supply to Kunak and several areas in Lahad Datu has been restored, as well as in Semporna, namely to the Buraq Oil Pump Station, Kampung Sri Melor and its surrounding areas.

Electricity supply in Tawau, namely Jalan Kampung Tinagat, Kampung Batu Payung, QL Farm, Jalan Apas Parit, Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Payung, Sekolah Kebangsaan Kinabutan Besar and its surrounding area has also been restored, it said.

On Saturday (Sept 13), it was reported that a power outage occurred in several districts on the East Coast of Sabah following a disruption in the 275KV Kolopis-Segaliud transmission line involving line 1 and line 2 at 5.05pm.

Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd, in an official Facebook post, said the areas affected by the power supply disruption were Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Kinabatangan, Kunak, Semporna and Beluran and Tawau.

A Bernama survey at 7am found that the power supply in some areas in Tawau has yet to be restored.

Meanwhile, Sandakan Member of Parliament Vivian Wong Shir Yee, in a Facebook post, said that several areas in Sandakan were experiencing power outages of up to 13 hours.
