Govt to channel RM100,000 to Johor Scouts, says PM

MERSING: Some RM100,000 will be channelled to the Malaysian Scouts to assist with the Johor Scouts 27th General Assembly, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said the allocation is expected to be disbursed by Monday (Sept 15).

"I am approving a special RM100,000 specifically for this general assembly and hopefully it can be channelled by Monday (Sept 15).

"I am pointing this out as I do not want to be like previous politicians who made promises that only materialised a year later," he said.

He said this in his speech during the Johor Scouts 27th General Assembly at Pantai Tanjung Leman here.

Also present at the event were Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.

Anwar, who told the crowd that he was also a scout during his school days, urged students to instil the scouts’ principles in themselves.

The Prime Minister also later spent some time answering questions from students during a dialogue session held in conjunction with the assembly.

The assembly was attended by more than 4,000 scouts, including those from Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
