KUALA LUMPUR: The charred remains of a nonagenarian and his son were found inside a single-storey terrace house after it was destroyed in a fire in Sungai Buloh near here.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they received a distress call at 12.50am yesterday.

The first fire engine from the Sungai Buloh Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene 10 minutes later in Kampung Sri Indah A.

“The fire involved a single-storey terrace house that was 80% destroyed. Two male victims, a 94-year-old father and his 62-year-old son, were found burnt to death inside the house,” he said in a statement, Bernama reported.

He said the operation was also assisted by fire rescue teams from the Damansara, Rawang and Bukit Jelutong stations, involving 28 personnel and eight fire engines.

According to Ahmad Mukhlis, the blaze was brought under control at 3.40am.

He said both victims were confirmed dead by medical personnel at the scene.
