MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning for several states until 7pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several states and territories, with warnings in effect until 7pm on Tuesday (Sept 2).

In Kedah, Padang Terap is on alert for severe weather, while in Perak, Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang, and Muallim are affected.

In Pahang, Cameron Highlands, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Bera, Pekan, and Rompin are under the warning.

In Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, and Hulu Langat are expected to experience adverse conditions.

The Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur is also included in the alert.

In Negeri Sembilan, Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, and Jempol are on alert for severe weather.

In Sarawak, the warning covers Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Serian, and Sri Aman, while in Sabah, Sandakan’s Telupid and Beluran are also forecast to experience adverse conditions.

MetMalaysia issues these warnings when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to last more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
