PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has confirmed the registration of five medical practitioners who completed the Parallel Pathway Specialist Training in Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said that the Malaysian Medical Council had registered the five doctors, who had also received the “Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Cardiothoracic Surgery” qualification, to the National Specialist Register.

“The five Cardiothoracic Surgeons are currently serving at Penang General Hospital and the National Heart Institute, " said Dzulkefly in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 27).

He stated that the registration was in accordance with Section 14C of Malaysia's Medical Act 1971 (Act 50), which allows a fully registered medical practitioner to be registered as a specialist.
