Sabah Fest 2025 to kick off on Aug 30

KOTA KINABALU: The annual month-long Sabah Fest celebrations will kick off on Aug 30, says state Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew.

She said the celebrations, themed “Unity in Diversity: Culture Unites Us,” would coincide with National Day, Sabah Day, and Malaysia Day, and end on Sept 28.

She said the Sabah Fest 2025 festival would be launched at Jalan Jati Gaya Street here at 7pm. It would be followed by "The Unity in Diversity: Culture Unites Us Fun Run & Walk" on Sept 6 at Taman Ujana Rimba Tropika.

The route for the eight-kilometre run would pass by iconic places of worship, including the Sacred Heart Cathedral, the Sabah State Mosque, the Gurdwara Sahib Temple and the Peak Nam Toong Temple.

She said there would also be a one-kilometre walk that features participants dressed in ethnic attire.

From September 6 to 7, the Imago Shopping Mall would host the Sabah Fest Mini Carnival, showcasing traditional games and interactive cultural activities.

The grand finale of the Sabah Fest Extravaganza, which would be held at the Oceanus Boardwalk from Sep 27 to 28, would feature cultural dance performances from across Sabah.

"Sabah’s harmonious multicultural spirit is a major draw for visitors. This is what makes Sabah special, and it is what attracts visitors from around the world,” she said.

Sabah Fest was organised by Sabah Tourism Board and its subsidiary, Sri Pelancongan.
