SHAH ALAM: The PAS Central Selection Committee has announced the list of candidates for the party's internal election for the 2025–2027 term, with both the president and deputy president positions remaining uncontested.
Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang was named the sole candidate for the president’s post, while Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man remained unchallenged as the only nominee for deputy president, reported Sinar Harian.
In a statement on Thursday (Aug 21), its chairman Wan Rohimi Wan Daud, emphasised that the candidate list covered positions within the Central Working Committee, the Ulama Council, the Youth wing and the Women’s wing (Dewan Muslimat).
For the vice-president role, four candidates were announced, three of whom are incumbents: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, Datuk Idris Ahmad, and Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah. They were joined by an additional contender, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
In the race for PAS Ulama chief, two names were confirmed: Datuk Ahmad Yahaya and Datuk Mohd Nor Hamzah.
Meanwhile, the contest for PAS Youth chief will see a face-off between incumbent Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden and Mohamed Sukri Omar.
The Women’s wing leadership remained uncontested, with incumbent Nuridah Mohd Salleh being named the sole candidate for the post.
In addition, 38 candidates were confirmed to be competing for seats on the Central Working Committee. Among them were notable figures such as Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz and Ahmad Fadhli Shaari.
