Bullying a growing concern that threatens the safety, future of younger generation, says MB

JOHOR BARU: The Johor government will be strengthening anti-bullying policies and preventive initiatives through strategic cooperation with schools, relevant agencies and the community, says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

The Mentri Besar described bullying as a growing concern that threatens the safety and future of the younger generation.

“The state leadership stands united in its commitment to tackle bullying and rejecting the culture of bullying, in line with the decree of Regent of Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim.

“Bullying in any form, whether physical, emotional or cyber, is an act of cruelty as it breaks spirits, weakens resolve and destroys the potential of our children,” he said in a social media post on Thursday (Aug 21).

“Bullying is still bullying, wherever it happens and it must be opposed without compromise,” he added.

Onn Hafiz said that every child in Johor deserves to live, learn and work in a safe, peaceful and prosperous environment.

He also urged the public to be vigilant and report cases of bullying immediately through the 24-hour hotlines provided by the Education Ministry (03-8884 9325 /014-800 9325) and the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry’s Talian Kasih at 15999.
