Sultan Abdul Halim Airport closed due to an aircraft-related incident, says MAHB

ALOR SETAR: The runway at Sultan Abdul Halim Airport (AOR) is temporarily closed following an aircraft-related incident at about 11.30am on Tuesday (Aug 19).

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) said in a Facebook post that the closure was to facilitate the removal of a TUDM aircraft and the clearing works of the runway.

It said a Notice to Airmen has been issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and that the closure is expected to remain in effect until 4pm on Tuesday (Aug 19).

Passengers are advised to check with their respective airlines for the latest flight updates.

At press time, there is no further information on what kind of aircraft-related incident happened at the airport.

This is the second time this year that the runway at AOR was forced to be closed after a TUDM aircraft crashed there.

On May 6, AOR was closed to make way for a runway clearance after a TUDM aircraft crashed on the runway.
