NILAI: The newest township of Negri Sembilan, Putra Nilai, has become the state’s district with probably the largest number of youths, as it now has six institutions of higher learning.

Dubbed by locals as the Youth City, the 35,000 student population, which is increasing annually, also means a demand for places to rent.

GD Properties Sdn Bhd group executive chairman Datuk Seri Yeat Sew Chuong announced on Saturday (Aug 16), the company signed memoranda of understanding with MILA University, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), Admal Aviation College, INTI International University & College, Nilai University, and MEATECH International College on Saturday.

“We want to work closely with these six institutions as part of our commitment to making Malaysia an education hub.

“It is important that students, especially from overseas, are able to find proper accommodation nearby.

“The Youth City Residences hope to provide the solution to the students as well as investors who have bought these units,’’ he said, adding that the spill over from the development had benefited the locals.

Yeat said through this partnership, it hoped to provide comprehensive support for students and create an ecosystem where academic achievement and personal growth can be achieved together.

Students from over 30 countries reportedly live in the new township, also known as Putra Nilai, which is located near Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Cyberjaya and Putrajaya.

Youth City is a large-scale mixed development comprising four main towers with 3,213 residential units and 96 commercial shop lots.

The Youth City Residence was completed in 2023.

It is the first phase of the RM1.3bil development on a 50-acre site, and includes a 150,000 sq feet clubhouse and themed rooftops.

It is developed by GD Development Sdn Bhd.
