THE Dewan Rakyat descended into chaos when PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang (PN-Marang) implied during his debate that Kuala Lumpur’s problems were due to DAP and the unity government.
In his speech debating the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), he recited a poem in Malay containing the line: “KL is problematic due to DAP, Pakatan Harapan and friends.”
The remark prompted Chong Zemin (PH-Kampar) and RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) to raise a point of order, asking presiding speaker Suhaizan Kaiat to address the matter.
Chong cited Standing Order 36 (1) to demand why Abdul Hadi was talking about matters unrelated to the 13MP.
Several PAS MPs then stood up and told Chong to sit down.
Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (PN-Besut) said it was up to Abdul Hadi to debate on any issues based on policies.
Chong replied that he wanted to know why Abdul Hadi was not talking about the 13MP.
A shouting match then ensued between Chong and several Perikatan Nastional MPs.
Several PAS MPs were heard shouting ‘DAP is rude’.
Rayer responded by saying: “Is it acceptable if I say PAS is Parti Ajaran Sesat? (PAS is a party of deviant teachings)”, which angered the PAS MPs.
Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul who came in to replace Suhaizan ordered the MPs to sit down and told the next MP to continue with the debate.
However, Datuk Awang Hashim (PN-Pendang) and Rayer were heard still talking. Johari then reprimanded both of them.
“What kind of people’s representatives are you? Have you no shame? Very shameful of you all, shameful!” said Johari.
