IPOH: Police have ruled out foul play in an incident where a 40-year old woman was found dead near a mall in Klebang on Wednesday (Aug 6).
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said investigations into the matter are still ongoing and a witness has been identified.
"There are no criminal elements to the incident, however, we are still investigating the motive behind the woman’s actions in taking her own life," he said in a press conference after attending an aid presentation ceremony to 30 retired policemen at Dewan Perpaduan KRT Chemor on Thursday (Aug 7).
He added that the victim was believed to have been residing in Kuala Lumpur, although she was originally from Ipoh.
"Her family members were unaware that she had returned to Chemor before the incident took place.
"We are also recording statements from the family," he said.
When asked whether the woman had a history of mental illness, ACP Abang Zainal Abidin said the matter was still under investigation.
